Vallarta Adventures' boating expeditions explore both the north and south of Bandaras Bay. The Marietas Islands are on the north side and receive water from rivers as well as cold currents coming from the north during the winter. Gonzales states that it is a fantastic site for snorkeling and scuba diving. Visitors are able to see dolphins, turtles and whales in various parts of the year. The whales are generally present from November through April though organizations are only allowed to lead whale watching expeditions from November through March.
